Constantine Commemorative Service

York Minster 25 July 2006

On this date 1700 years ago, at this location, Constantine was proclaimed emperor by his troops in Britain. To commemorate this a spectacular celebration was organised. Comitatus, as athe leading Late Roman group, was asked to participate as an honour guard for the Archbishop of York himself! Many bishops from around the world also attended, and a procession with giant-sized replica's of Late Roman artefacts wound through a packed York to the Museum Gardens. A wonderful day to be remembered.
